Mohammad Reza Atashzad, known as Atashzad, was born in 1958 in the beautiful museum city of Esfahan in Iran, a city where art is displayed on every street corner. He graduated from The School of Fine Arts in Esfahan as the top student, and then read Architecture at Shahid Beheshti University, Tehran’s most famous, and received his BA in 1987.
The architecture and the natural environment of his home city inspired Atashzad to take up watercolour painting. In over thirty years as a professional artist, Atashzad has participated in more than 100 solo and group exhibitions in Iran and around the world including Rome, Florence, Chicago, Atlanta, Paris, Nancy, London, Almaty, Ankara, Moscow, Mali, Lynden and Vancouver. He is the founder and Director of the Atashzad Art Gallery in Tehran, where the works of local and international artists are displayed.
Atashzad teaches drawing and painting at his own Art Academy in Iran, and also teaches watercolour and acrylic painting, artistic rendering and freehand perspective drawing at several community centers and art institutes in Vancouver.
Atashzad has published over five hundered greeting cards and posters, all in his particularly delicate style, as well as five albums and books of his selected works. He is an artist of important talent whose works take us on a wonderful visual and emotional journey.
